2BC Dominican Republic Mission:

A.W. Tozer was a preacher of the Word of God. He had a saying that has ‘stuck’ with me for many, many years. That saying is:

“Jesus Christ taught us that our earthly wealth translates into a store of higher and eternal value which will abide forever.”

I take that sentence to mean that if moneys are given for a higher need, then its value changes, it goes up. Like, if I found 4 quarters in the bottom on my washer tub and give it to the church where in turn it goes to a hungry child, the value of that found dollar increases. To that child, it is worth much more than 4 quarters.

I have been given the incredible opportunity to be the spokes person to help raise the necessary capitol for our team to go to the Dominican Republic this year. Dr. Bob and Sally have entrusted me the honor of being able to do some of the work toward making this trip a reality, not for only us, the team and our community. For, I will be one of those people whom God is choosing to bless because of the trip.

There are many ways to be charitable. Giving of yourself is charity. Giving of your time is charity. Giving of your wealth is charity.

We need the gift of you this Thursday, March 6th, to share your talents and ideas to get this mission trip to the DR. We need your input of ideas for fund raising and you need to hear just what will be happening while our team is in the Caribbean. We are in the final 3 months of working out the details of the various events that we will be hosting to allow our team to go.

This is not Dr. Bob’s team trip. Although he has done an extraordinary amount of work toward the goal, it is the effort of our church family to follow God's will for our church and send this group to a place where He (God) will use our members to bless those they will be led to minister and in turn, we can share in those many blessings as a congregation. What a thrill to rally behind these adventurers with our support!

Second Baptist Church has a history of being VERY generous and being able to accomplish the goals they have set out to accomplish. I KNOW it is because these many goals have been God’s Will for our church and there have been so many successes. This year’s D.R. trip is the next in the long line of success stories and fulfilled prayer requests for those who go and to those who are the subjects of this ministry. (This could by YOU and definitely will be me!)

Last week, P.C. (Pastor Chris)  said that God loved all of us; the good, the bad and the ugly. He loves the world and all of us contained therein. He loves you, those in your family, those on your row, all of Calais, America, the USA, North America, South America, the Caribbean countries, the island of Hispanola which includes the Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and those in the little town of LaRomana.

Do you know the difference between Gods’s chosen people and all of us who are lost in this world? It is just one thing and that is the revelation of God’s Love for them. The righteous have seen it and acted on the revelation that they are deeply and intimately loved by God and they have accepted God’s redemption through the blood and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That is our Message, brothers and sisters, and we must take that message to the four corners of this earth so we can finally see the glory of The Lord again!

Lives being saved into God’s family, building the Kingdom, spreading God’s message is what this team is headed out to do as they build and practice medicine. We will be a part of God’s plan to show others that He gives un-sacrificially, while these volunteers are giving the gifts of their labor.

Won’t you help us make posters and plan the activities? Won’t you rearrange your time and budget to help? My plea is that you can grace us with your presence, ideas and talents this next Thursday (weather permitting). We need YOU. This is our ministry outside these church walls and we can make a difference as we begin our personal calling to be a closer disciple of Jesus Christ.

Thank you so very much,
~Beverli McAdams
